Each photostory should sequence the events and include the reasons behind each step.Term 3 Week 10 Wednesday 22 September This week in the kitchen we made Papardelle pasta with Tuscan cabbage sauce and Lemon sour cream cake. We compared and contrasted the lemon loaf with the Anakiwa slice from last time to look at the similarities and differences between sweet foods we have made.Compare and Contrast Map of Anakiwa Slice and Lemon Sour Cream Syrup Cake
In the garden we carried out an experiment to see what would be the best fertiliser for our school field. On one part we sprinkled coffee grounds, on another Mike the caretaker put his fertiliser and on the third part we spread worm tea. Over the holidays we will see which part of the field grows the best.
Wednesday 8 September COOKINGOn Wednesday room6 did Garden to table. Groups 1, 2 and 3 did cooking. It was really fun. We made Anakiwa flapjack, Pita bread and salads. In the salads were Broad beans, lettuce, broccoli, some flowers and bean plants. We also learnt about Yeast. Yeast are these little bugs that you put in your food to make it rise. Group 2 made the anakiwa flapjack. There was a lot of stuff in the anakiwa flapjack. For example: sun flower seeds and apricots.by Alexsia
GARDENINGAt garden to table group 4,5 and 6 did gardening. We picked some lettuce leaves and some flowers for our salad. Then we split up into groups and we planted some seeds. We learnt that when we plant the seeds there needs to be the same height of soil as the seed. Then we swapped over and we did spreading some coffee. When we did spreading coffee we learnt that the coffee makes the slugs and snails go away and it attracts worms for the soil.By Andrew Here are some photos of us in the kitchen and the garden.
Group 4 made Anakiwa Slice. Afterwards we did a sequence map of the steps involved and tried to think about why each step needed to be done in the right order. Then we created a photostory to explain what we did.

Term 3 Week 8 This week we had another go at describing what we had learned using voice thread. We tried to improve on our comments by adding more detail about what we had learned and explaining the reasons why it was important. See if you think we have improved!
This week we used Voicethread to describe what we learned in Garden to Table. First we had to create a symbol on Paint to represent ourselves. Then we had to comment on what we had learned. We are learning to communicate effectively so we tried really hard to speak clearly and at a good pace.
Term 3 Week 4 This week we tried interviewing each other to explain what we were doing at Garden to Table. Here is a movie showing us making the delicious chocolate icing for the cupcakes.
Term 3 Week 2 Wednesday 28 July This term we have been learning to write letters.We decided to write letters to Mrs Masters and Mrs Sylvester to thank them for all their hard work and to show them what we had learnt in Garden to Table.
Term 1 Week 8 Wednesday 24 March This week we made beetroot and lemon chutney, water crackers and beans. In the garden we harvested herbs and vegetables for cooking and found a place to plant the fig tree. Check out the photos
Term 1 Week 6 Wednesday 10 March This week we used the pizza oven and baked apples and potato boats. Yum, it was delicious! Here are some photos of us hard at work.
Term 1 Week 4 Wednesday 24 February pm: Room 6 split up into garden to table groups. I was cooking in the hall. First we grated the cheese, Next we had to get a lo tof things from the fridge - like mayonnaise. Then we had to get the bread - which was also in the kitchen and pick out the middle of the bread to put the fillling in. The filling was going to be yummy and cheesy! After we had picked out the filling the gardeners brought us some silverbeet. The silvebeet was for the cheesy filling. So we cut it up and added it to our mixture. Mrs Silvester told us how to cut the vegetables. First she showed us how to hold the knife and I had to put my left hand at the end of the knife. With my right hand I held the handle and chopped. I felt proud of myself because I haven't been taught how to chop vegetables before. When we had cut the vegetables like Mrs Silvester had showed us, I helped Jessie stir the mixture. Pretty soon it was all over and in the oven. We tidied up and laid out the others' knives forks and plates. The eating part was the best. We had made a cob loaf, some crostini bread with some garlic and a yummy piece of tomato on top. We also made coleslaw. I don't like colslaw but I tried it anyway. I really liked the cob loaf that my group made.By Emily
On Wednesday 24 February I did Garden to Table. I was doing gardening. It was amazingly fun! First I cut some basil and then I brought it up to the hall. After that I helped pick some tomatoes. There weren't very many so we picked some cherry tomatoes. I thought that the basil was old because it smelled so strong. It was so hot and I felt like the sun's rays were going to burn out. I thought the soil would never get wet enough! Every time I could get a drink I almost took five minutes. I planted strawberries and picked broccoli seeds. After that I went back to the garden next to the hall. At the end we ate garlic bread and some bread with green and white things on top. The food that the cookers cooked was great!By Olivia H.
Wednesday 10 FebruaryOur First Garden to TableYesterday my class did Garden to table. I was gardening by the hall in the garden. It was so exciting! There were three groups each gardening and cooking. I was gardening. It was SO hot I was dying of thirst. Our job was to get the food for the cookers. It was extremely fun though. We had to weed and replace the soil for the worms. Other people thought they saw a rat in the garden. Finally we got to eat. Mmmm delicious! By the end I was exteremely exhausted. It was Awesome! I can't wait until I do it again. By Katie

Wednesday 24 February pm:

Mrs Silvester told us how to cut the vegetables. First she showed us how to hold the knife and I had to put my left hand at the end of the knife. With my right hand I held the handle and chopped.
